  • Eugene Talmadge Memorial Bridge Savannah, GA.
“This bridge is pretty new, it’s about 16 yrs old.  A lady named Diane was commissioned to build it and was done 6 months before the scheduled finish date as well as $1 mil under budget, we sure know how to pinch pennies. The locals spent 5 yrs in city hall arguing over what to call the new bridge. In the end, the old name stuck since they didn’t want to change all the maps. Too bad Eugene Talmadge was not quite a standup guy, since he was caught for embezzlement several years later.” Just a little history about the bridge from our friendly southern tour guide Chris from Old Savannah Tours.  :)
